Remedy Rd - an imaginary place of reprieve for the weary and woeful. An idyllic dwelling where any burden can be set aside and there are no crosses to bear. Its a tall order to hope that such a place really does exist, but the artist knows this, suggesting that perhaps it is in the fantastical idea of the song that escapism can set in and solace can be found. A simple lyrical motif accompanies the swinginig, anthemic gospel sound to close the album off on a rather sweet note.
lyrics
INTRO:
Just a 'wee song for the weary bunch out there. A place to go to in your head when it all gets a bit too much.
VERSE 1:
Listen up I know a secret, and I don’t wanna keep it
I’ve found a place where nobody knows
It just may come in handy so make mine a brandy
And follow close this is how it goes...
No maps no directions, follow your reflections
Down to where the scars don’t show
Trust me it’s not hard to find close your eyes, see the sign
To a place called remedy road...
Hang your worries on a rack, tie your burdens in a sack
And pack yourself a clean change of clothes (we’re going)
Bring your hardships with ya, and drown them in the river
That runs under remedy road...
VERSE 2:
You’ve been hit by recession, facing repossession
About to lose your fixed abode
Round up your family and possessions
I found these keys to a house down on remedy road...
You took them by the hand but now it’s [not how you planned
And your marriage is about to explode
You can find your heart, and make a clean start
There’s love down on remedy road...
You lost your religion, and god doesn’t listen
You’re stuck here and don’t know where to go
If you can’t find the answers, then come and take your chances
There’s hope there on remedy road...
VERSE 3:
They could never teach you in school, threw your life to the wolves
Now you find yourself sleeping in the cold
There’s wood for the fire and a bed, everybody gets fed
Just enough, on remedy road...
You ripped up the rule book and burned your bridges
You’re all in it’s too late to fold
Wipe the sweat from your brow, drop your cards take a bow
There’s a new hand on remedy road...
The habit’s taking over, it hurts to be soba
You’re too weak to carry the load
You can put down powder and the drink, there’s always time to think
In the meadow by remedy road...
VERSE 4:
You’re loved ones have long passed away, you’re beyond your day
You’re tired and afraid of being old
Well kill those tears you can steal back the years
You’re forever young on remedy road...
They’ve got you fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan
And you ain’t coming home until you’re told
Drop that gun from your shoulder, stand up soldier
And march down to remedy road...
You got the bad news, it’s left you in two
You’re scared and you need a hand to hold
Remember it’s all hear and now, the rest is just a dream
And you’ll soon wake on remedy road...
Come what may, for on my day
Don’t cry keep for me my soul
My dear family and friends, I’ll see you all again
Come and find me on remedy road...
Find me on remedy road…
