about

A dark, punchy and industrial sounding track which sits firmly on the heavier side of the album. The drums clang and the guitar distortion can be likened to the sound of a train stopping at short notice in this weighty Hip-Hop Duo featuring Rap veteran Messenger. Both vocalists are serious and straight to the point in their lyrical content, yet they play with the flow the way Killer Whales play flipper tennis with Seal pups. The title says it all...This is a no fuss song, made even less fussy by the clean cut execution of Messenger’s intellegent and metaphoric contribution.

lyrics

VERSE 1:
Nobody said it would be easy these cutthroat times are a task
Don’t life deal up a dodgy hand of cards
I don’t beg nor ask for no jail free pass
Nothing comes free and when it does it don’t last
So luckily for me I’m partial to the graft
The rent don’t like man cotching on his arse
Can’t find work hit road and wash cars
Nothing wrong with honest money, for the jam-jar

CHORUS:
Full stop…life is a tough rope to climb
Full stop…still everybody has a choice
Full stop…you can hold tight and fight to reach the top
Full stop…or you can drop, lose face, lose voice
Full stop…some do and some don’t
Full stop…some will and some won’t
Full stop…your life is in your own hands
And not the next man’s, apply motion to the plan

(Breakdown)...

VERSE 2:
At the end of this tunnel called life I’m try’na find light
I search inside for advice but my alter ego is sliced
In hindsight the Jackyl hates the Hide side of my life
People biting at my ankles, strapping shackles to my stride
Let me run please don’t block my to kingdom come
Let fly some sun and glide up over these slums
Tell me fuck work and one day you’ll make me a ton
Til your game crumbles and you’re scraping over the crumbs
Don’t you know bro the devil makes work for idle thumbs
No conundrums it’s simple if your nuts ain’t numb
Don’t have to be shotting Z’s to achieve number one
(Like algebra) DIY times graft is the sum
And believe I often feel diseased with the need to succumb
To the pressures that infect us try’na be someone
Once snagged it’s a one way track, no turning back
Fuck I’d rather be nobody than somebody shotting crack

CHORUS:
Full stop…life is a tough race to run
Full stop…but there’s always the finish line
Full stop…you can hop your socks off til you cop
Full stop…or you can cop out and get left behind
Full stop…some do and some don’t
Full stop…some will and some won’t
Full stop…your life is in your own hands
And not the next man’s, apply motion to the plan

VERSE 3:
I left school with a couple of C’s at seventeen
The drug scene was an optional means, I wasn’t keen
I broke clean held on by the skin of my teeth
Through the grief, continued the labor with self belief
Never fucked about with credit cards or bank loans
Earn my own, the beast makes work for idle bones
So from packing factory stock to lorry dock
Job to job, not me to be shotting the lolly pop
(Full stop) thus, I don’t accept no excuses
from he who produces money from devil juices
or anyone who uses hard luck as a reason to be useless
I’ve rested in squalors and refuges
Man chooses his root toward the gold
I’ll polish boots before I sell my soul
Your weak try’na justify it like you’ve got to
There’s millions of us just as broke but choose not to

CHORUS:
Full stop…life is a tough rope to climb
Full stop…still everybody has a choice
Full stop…you can hold tight and fight to reach the top
Full stop…or you can drop, lose face, lose voice
Full stop…some do and some don’t
Full stop…some will and some won’t
Full stop…your life is in your own hands
And not the next man’s, apply motion to the plan

Full stop…life is a tough race to run
Full stop…but there’s always the finish line
Full stop…you can hop your socks off til you cop
Full stop…or you can cop out and get left behind
Full stop…some do and some don’t
Full stop…some will and some won’t
Full stop…your life is in your own hands
And not the next man’s, apply motion to the plan...
